OCN Signalong Tutor Training Course (Advanced)

Course description
This intensive five day course consists of two units: The Principles of Communication for Signalong Tutors and Signing Skills for Signalong Tutors. Trainees who successfully complete the course will be registered with Signalong as Tutors and gain 6 OCN Credits at Level 3.Aims and objectives
- Understand prerequisites for and barriers to communication
- Understand skills used in sign supported communication
- Understand the philosophy and methodology of Signalong
- Understand fingerspelling & namesigning
- Understand generalisation and symbolic development
- Recognise and interpret signs made by others
- Be able to train others in the use of sign-spported communication
Method of Delivery
Delivered by Signalong senior tutors. Group learning (40 hours). Private study (20 hours).
Evaluation / accreditation
Observation, handbook, presentations, tutorial. OCN accredited, 6 credits at level 3.
Target Audience
Pracitioners with experience of signing.
