Course description
This package comprises of three separate training courses:
- Speech, Language and Communication in the Classroom (delivered over 3 days)
- Assessing Children’s Spoken Language (1 day course)
- Running a Language Group (1 day course)
This training has been developed and is delivered by a collaborative team consisting of specialist teachers of speech, language and communication from Leicester City Special Needs Teaching Service along with speech and language therapists working in the National Health Service. The training package aims to increase the understanding of:
- the speech, language and communication (SLC) process
- SLC development
- how SLC impacts on learning
- identification of SLC difficulties
- how to meet the needs and support the learning of children with SLC difficulties
It is expected that on completion of the training participants will be equipped with a wide range of strategies and resources to enhance the SLC element of Quality First Teaching. In addition participants will be familiar with specific interventions for use in schools for children with SLC difficulties.
