The children I work with don’t have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) – is the SLCF relevant to me?

Yes. The universal stage is for anyone who works with children and young people, whether they have SLCN or not. Communication is such a crucial area for children’s development, it’s really important that everyone has a good level of awareness of how best to support the language development of all children. Additionally, it’s vital that anyone working with children knows what to look for, to ensure that any children or young people with SLCN are identified early, so that they can get the assessment and help they need as quickly as possible.
